OUR MISSION.

OUR MISSION.

A free business growth community designed for Hampton University alumnae+entrepreneurs (and aspiring entrepreneurs) who are ready to pour into their business with communal support, accountability, and perspective while also prioritizing rest

Welcome to the 1868 Collective, where the Hampton spirit of unity and support thrives. We're Erinn Cottman and Blair Presley Bone, proud Class of 2006 alumnae, friends since Twitchell, and founders of our own individual coaching businesses. Together, we envisioned a better way to connect with and uplift Hampton women in entrepreneurship, giving rise to the 1868 Collective.

We believe in making it effortless to discover and champion fellow Hampton alumnae-owned businesses. Entrepreneurship is a journey with a multitude of questions and challenges, and navigating it alone doesn't align with our ethos. Why struggle to find a brand protection attorney or an investment advisor specializing in empowering women entrepreneurs when we have these experts within our own community?

1868 Collective was born out of the belief that there's strength in collaboration, wisdom in shared experiences, and power in supporting each other's growth. We understand the entrepreneurial journey intimately – the doubts, the ambitions, the need for a trusted sounding board. If you've ever felt confined by your current network or yearned for someone who truly understands, you're not alone.

Maybe you have a huge idea that both excites and intimidates you, or you're seeking accountability on a bold endeavor. Whatever your challenge, know that the solutions often reside within a few degrees of separation. We're here to facilitate those connections, to bridge the gaps, and to celebrate each other's victories. We’re here to learn how to create and sustain businesses more effectively and pass that wisdom down the next generation.

The Hampton connection is distinctive. It's a commitment to looking out for one another, serving as conduits for success. "It's just different" isn't just a slogan; it's a testament to the unparalleled support that defines our community.

Together, let’s formalize this commitment and make the 1868 Collective the official space where Hampton women lift each other higher.
